Now I can show you what I've really been busy with for the past few months--Socks! Everyone got socks for Christmas! Well, almost everyone. Since I have knitted Nav. Guy two pairs of socks already, his will come later. Now that everyone else will be wearing hand-knit socks, maybe it's time for me to knit some of my own. These socks now belong to Grace.
These socks were made for Bess. The two socks were made with the same skein of yarn, even though they don't look entirely mated. I can't remember where I got this yarn, but it is hand dyed. I made the first sock, then the second. They looked like entirely different yarns--one was light and the other was dark. Even though they were knitted on the same gauge needles, they even looked like different sizes! So...I knitted a third sock since I had that much yarn left over. Bess got 3 socks instead of 2, and she can wear them however she wants.
Emma got pink socks. By the way, the socks are displayed on a pair of sock blockers that was a Christmas gift from Gary. I made the girls socks in a rib pattern, nothing fancy. Emma gave me some beautiful sock yarn that she got when she was in New York last year. I am looking forward to knitting my own socks from this yarn and learning a new knitting technique along the way--a cable knit could be in my future.
Mom thinks that she's going to like wearing hand knit socks also! Hey, I just noticed that inferior white athletic sock trying to sneak into the picture.
Now how did that get on the tree?
These socks are for Nav. Guy and they're still on my needles. I am making these from a worsted knit yarn. These socks most excellent and sturdy are made to be worn with the boots that he wears everyday. Look how handsome they look sitting on my new leopard print Snuggy (mee-ow) You know, these socks could be called rugged, masculine or even jocular. They practically reek of testosterone--just like my Nav. Guy;)
